The NRA and KKK both came out of the old confederate mentality. The NRA is just the public more respectable version. They don't talk racist platitudes openly, but the code language is all there. Just replace "criminal" or "looter" with a black face and "law-abiding citizen" with a rightwing white face you get the idea.

There is also an Armageddon type mentality that goes along with this latent racism. We saw that during the Clinton years. And the NRA extremists did strike, against the Federal Building in OK City. Don't tell me those guys weren't NRA members. Definitely were.

Psychologically, you know why a lot of guys feel like they need big guns or big cars.
