You are quite right about that.

The most bookmarked people on SI spend time on stock threads where bookmarking a fellow investor is a matter of sound family economics.

With a few well-known exceptions, the most ignored people on SI are conservatives of all demeanor. SI leftists seem to use the ignore button as a way to demonstrate they know all and should not be compelled to waste their time learning anything new from people they disagree with. It's a convenient way to lock in flawed ideas while blocking out a healthy dose of reality --- like a cyber version of the Berlin Wall.

I found that more than two-thirds of the people who have me on ignore have been "Banished" from SI --- every one a crazed leftist, and probable danger to society. Knowing this, it is clear that using something as silly as a bookmark-to-ignore ratio to assess the competency of other posters is illogical and somewhat juvenile. Why someone would even bring it up is puzzling.
