That's one hell of a good post IMHO. Doesn't go nearly far enough, but it's a step in the right direction. Pre-law, business, econ, literature. The underlying question of why so many of today's top US students think the meaning of life is to be found at Goldman Sachs or Davis Polk rather than in some anonymous lab laboriously digging out the knowledge that might actually help save the species, or maintain our country's innovative edge, is an important one to explore. I won't venture an answer because on this thread my answer would bring a rain of invective I don't feel like enduring. Plus whatever I said, would be boring. --QS
