or worse a half dozen of our guys had been killed in freeing them. They are warriors and I presume volunteered to save them. They know the risks and would die to save your sorry ass also. The trick is to get in and out with their asses in tact. Luckily this time they did. Your "20/20 hindsight" and "what ifs" are about as helpful as the fools that go over there to convert and think that they can make a difference when all they have accomplished is being captured and having our guys risk their necks to save their sorry, pacifist butts. The world is a cruel and somewhat evil place. Always has been and always will be. Get used to it.
