Honestly, I don't think Dubya is divorced from reality. I think this is the oligopolists fantasy dream reality.

The chaos of war, this hugely expensive war in such a small country, provides enormous profits for Dubya's true constituency. It isn't, so far, spilling out anywhere so it's just the US middle class worker who is paying the huge price tag.

Dubya is still pushing hard for more tax cuts for the ultrawealthy so that his constituency gets most of the profits at a bargain basement price.

He's getting exactly what he set out to do. IMO people have to really understand that Dubya's incompetent when it comes to doing well by American citizen but he's highly competent when it comes to doing well by himself, his family and his cronies.

Once that's clear, the entire Republican Corporatist agenda becomes unveiled for what it truly is: against the interests of the vast majority of Americans.
