Well as nice as Heather sounds, I am afraid it does not work very well.

Imagine you are an old florida retiree, your vision is very poor or almost gone, visual information is no longer a real option for you, especially text - but audio is. Why do you think it does not work very well? Just a few years ago stephen hawking would have murdered someone to get speech synthesis this good. The old people in the computer club tell me this is a GOD SEND. I rave to them about your blog and try to find them a way to access the information in it - one way they can do so easily (text to speech audio) - another way they can not (reading text)

I played the sample - being a guy who remembers the early days with Dr. Sbaitso and IBM Via Voice - this is amazing - here is a demo from AT&T you may like better -

He properly says R E A C. Is that what you had the problem with?

Shades, I think you just want to be entertained by Heather and anything useful coming out of it would be a bonus.

I am trying to help some old people with poor vision access content you deem worthy of spreading to the masses - but as is usually the case - the disabled are never considered.

When Connerton developers set out to build 8,700 homes on ranchland in central Pasco County, they seemed to think of everything.

The community would have its own grocery store, retail shops, offices and restaurants. It would include three schools, a regional park and even a hospital at the 4,300-acre site off U.S. 41.

But it turns out they overlooked one serious requirement, and it was up to Denise Sutton of Palm Harbor to bring it to their attention.

The half-dozen model homes, which also serve as sales centers, do not provide access for people in wheelchairs. The models all have at least two steps leading to the front door and no alternative entrance.

The problem came to light when people in wheelchairs came to visit Connerton, which prides itself in offering something for everyone, and found it wasn't ready for them.

I guess my attempts at humor of chasing spring break koos on fla beaches was another wasted effort. I hope when you age someone or society thinks of your needs and doesn't toss you away like a used condom Mish. hehe
