>>I think reasonable minds know that Saddam surely would be proud to have helped Al Qaeda with the 911 plot. Reasonable minds know that the state of the evidence leaves it as a strikingly plausible possibility, if not a liklihood.<<

Dan -

Yet the 9/11 commission, who did report on the meeting between bin Laden and a Hussein functionary, found "no evidence that a collaborative relationship" resulted from the meeting.

While it may be true that Hussein would have loved to have taken part in the 9/11 attacks, the evidence leaves us with no reason to think he actually had anything to do with it.

It's important to remember that bin Laden considers Saddam Hussein an infidel, and that he is on record as publicly stating that infidel governments of Arab lands, including Iraq specifically, had to be brought down. It's also important to note that he made that statement after the meeting you have been referring to.

By the way, if a real relationship did exist, why weren't there more meetings? Why are Bush apologists such as yourself forced to extrapolate from just the one?
