That's a perfect gentle slap at Hollywood narcissists. I well remember when Laugh In was the Next Big Thing and all the literati were watching it. Buck Owens started Hee Haw to mock them, and everybody predicted Hee Waw would be a flash in the pan.

Big surprise. Hee Haw outlasted Laugh In by a wide margin.
