Al, It's easier to just look at the US and the ME for the converse example... One could argue that America's decline as a superpower started when secular "political correctness" started taking over ... What exactly does that mean? Political correctness is an attempt to be more tolerant; to be respectful of other people's views and feelings. Generally, what leads to the decline of a civilization is weakness, corruption and mendacity.......the kind we are seeing now in Washington. I have heard Republican after Republican say when a society drains its treasury that's when democracy is coming to an end. Well guess what's happening with the US Treasury.
