This article doesn't state the full facts, but other news channels say it a felony to provide aid to an illegal immigrant.

Think about it. Is a church suppose to ask anyone with an accent, would you please show us your green card or citizenship certificate before we serve you a bowl of soup?

I'm against illegal immigration, but making it a felony for organizations or people to unknowingly assist an illegal immigrant, is foolish. In fact, some people don't even know they're illegal until they get contacted that there was some procedure mistake in the handling of their immigration visa. The people making this bill, clearly don't know the realities of the situation. Sure, it should be illegal to be illegal, but to make it a felony on the order of a rape or murder, is plain bizarre, especially when you can't distinguish between "knowingly" and "unknowingly". They should beef up their border patrol, enhance the worker program, and drastically beef up the arrests of illegals that are drug-kings or part of gangs that reside in this country. Parts of LA is like one big illegal gang drug-fest (and parts of San Jose/Campbell are like that too according to my South American friend.)

While the US govt focuses on Mexico, meanwhile the real competitive threat is global competition in the sciences and we are beginning to fall behind. That's more of a threat to this country's economy than anything else.

RE: flag

Mexicans actually are not patriotic to their country - remember their country is very two-tiered. But it is a bit over the top to protest with such vigor something that is actually illegal. But I concur the felony part is really over the top - as if it's on the same degree as a rape or murder.
