re: Just curious why you focus on employed illegal immigrants?

I see it as two separate issues. One, the illegals who come here to work is an economic issue. Two, the illegals who come to commit crimes are a police or criminal issue. And I certainly agree with you on the criminals; it
s reminiscent of the mafia being formed from Sicilian immigrants, and we don't want to repeat those mistakes.

If you read the Krugman article, a study suggests that low end wages for citizens are reduced by 8% because of illegal immigration. That's very bad, and I suspect the number is understated. There is essentially an endless supply of low end workers, so there is never any wage of benefit pressure for a very large segment of the population. That portion of Americans are not living the American dream... nothing close to it. And the Bush supporters are perfectly happy to be paying subsistence wages; it benefits their bottom line.

There are two criminal acts committed for each of the employed illegals, the first by the immigrant and the second by his employer. If you want to cut illegal immigration that suggest two solutions... and the second is to prosecute the employers.
