Yes they do. Regular math classes go much faster through material, and there may be only a few examples per concept. Remedial texts are laid our differently. Since you don't understand the field of education, you are just going to have to take my word for it that remedial students need different materials- or you could look up some of the scholarship in this are. The important thing to do, when teaching remedial students, is not to overwhelm them- and regular textbooks can overwhelm even below average students. For the failing remedial student the regular textbooks are the kiss of death.
