SEATTLE, Sept. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- CET Environmental Services, Inc.
(AMEX:ENV), with offices in Seattle, WA, and Portland, OR, today
announced that it has been awarded an Emergency and Rapid Response
Services (ERRS) contract by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency
(EPA) Region 10. This region includes the states of Washington, Oregon,
Idaho and Alaska. This 5- year contract has a potential value of $40
million and will involve the cleanup of contaminants and hazardous
materials on an emergency and planned basis.

``The award of this contract confirms EPA's confidence in CET's
management and technical capabilities and adds to our increasing backlog
of federal government work,'' stated John Hopkins, Senior Vice President
and Director of Government Programs at CET. Earlier this year, CET was
awarded a $292 million contract for performing similar work in EPA
Regions 6, 8, and 9, which covers 15 states in the southern and western
United States. Much of this work is performed by the Seattle regional
office.

On August 25, 1997, the Company received notice that the Air Force
Center for Environmental Excellence (AFCEE) awarded CET one of three
small-business set-aside contracts worth a total of $75 million. CET is
also a team member with Montgomery Watson, Pasadena, CA which was
awarded one of four AFCEE large-business contracts worth a combined
value of $400 million. CET will perform approximately 15 percent of this
contract under a teaming agreement with Montgomery Watson.

Statements in this press release that are not strictly historical are
``forward-looking'' statements within the meaning of the Safe Harbor
provisions of the federal securities laws. Forward-looking statements
involve risks and uncertainties, including, but not limited to,
continued acceptance of the Company's products and services in the
marketplace, competitive factors, new products and technological
changes, the Company's dependence upon third-party suppliers and other
risks detailed from time to time in the Company's form 10-K and other
regularly filed reports.

CET conducts business in environmental remediation, water treatment and
emergency response. The Company provides a broad range of expertise in
technology-based environmental services for both the public and private
sectors throughout the United States and Latin America.
