no the dust bowl was caused by WW1, the world armies need grain, so the US dugged up all the deep root praire grasses and grew wheat for the armies. After the war Wheat futures collasped and farmers stop growing wheat and left the fields fallow. With nothing growing and the praire grasses gone erosion took place leading to the dust bowl.

That won't happen with a profitable fruit market
