IMO, we either try, or we don't do anything at all. When we carrying things down to the lowest common denominator, that is the bottom line. Sorry, but that is way too simplistic. The world doesnt work in the binary way that you outline. We protect our borders, or we don't. We should spend money to make it more difficult to stop people from getting into this country. Does that mean it will actually work? No...and no reasonable proposal that I have seen would totally stop the flow of migrants. These people are willing to risk dying in the crossing to work in this country. Just like illegal drugs in this country, it is pretty much impossible to stop (without totally changing the country). We might slow it some, but we have to look at the costs involved as well. Cops giving speeding tickets doesnt completely stop speeders. Should cops stop patrolling the highways? Slacker
