No, the illegals are working outside the law, the minimum wage doesn't apply. So they take the jobs that have traditionally paid a significant premium, like "working in the construction industry during hot 101 degree weather".

re: I definitely agree there needs to be more tightening of the immigration situation, but it doesn't seem logical to go after the hard-working ones first. I'd rather set the right priorities and go at it in the proper order of what's more important to this country's future.

I didn't say go after the the hard working immigrants first, in fact I said to go after their employers. And again, I think the criminal immigrants are a different issue, and should be pursed by the police. That's what they do.

But the wages for the lowest 20-25% of earners IS an important issue. I guess we just disagree that it's a priority. That's OK.
