It's only an illusion that we're just shafting our kids. My parents standard of living has slowly eroded since retiring about 15 years ago. I expect the bulk of our folly to come home to roost with the boomer generation, but it will affect their kids as well more in the form of lost opportunity (from misallocation of resources and inflated away cost structures) than anything else.
