re: The UN is not a body of like minded nations. The UN was a body built to fight for human rights and create the mechanism to stand up to tyranny and the evils of dictatorship. Instead, we are putting all of those goals at risk, when we allow countries like Russia to spy on us and give info to the madmen like Saddam. The world is not a "body of like minded nations". Diplomacy isn't easy, never has been. The UN is a tool, not a solution. If you want easy consensus, go to NATO, the "old boys club" of "old Europe" and the US. If you want to step into the future, go to the UN security council, and beyond. It's hard work to make peace, much harder than making war. The UN isn't perfect, but it's there. Would you rather that we didn't talk to the Russians and the Chinese at all? Only to the "like minded"? John
