Are you too tired to note that most people wanted a new leader for Iraq? Clinton wanted that. Bush I wanted that. I think the Reverend Jessie Jackson wanted that.

What you also forget is that Saddam is a rightwing project gone bad.

That said...many experts thought that Saddam was a manageable bad boy. Many foresaw the trouble that uncorking the genie of ethnic clashes in Iraq would not be a good thing.

Worse yet...the people of Baghdad think that things were better under Saddam.

So while most sane folks agree that Saddam should go, I don't think any sane person thought that war was the only way to accomplish that goal nor was it an effective way to accomplish that goal...witness the chaos three years into the occupation.

One of the brightest stars in the Bush administration...perhaps the only one...Colin Powell argued strongly against the war option. I'm with him on this one.
