Then mostly taken for the real thing by poor people who thus get offended.

Off the record, I have a couple of people working for me for close to twenty years now.
I don't pay them as much as they may get other places.

But nevertheless they like working for me, they like the opportunity to bounce ideas and solutions with me, and they like the experience I bring in from many years back.

You know what? All of that gives me such a good feeling (to quote a former girlfriend of mine word by word. She was clever)
