Firefox protects you from viruses, spyware and pop-ups.

I am a Firefox fan but this goes too far. Most virus transmission mechanisms are outside the control of Firefox. Spyware protection? To a limited extent, possibly, like cookie tracking. But again much spyware just bypasses Firefox. Pop-up blocking, yes, that's working reasonably well.

For a multi-purpose security tool a user should have a look at a product like the Kaspersky Personal Security Suite.
