WILMINGTON, Del., Sept 19 (Reuter) - A federal jury of nine
on Friday cleared Adobe Systems Inc of all patent infringement
charges brought against it by the Quantel Ltd unit of Carlton
Communications Inc .
At issue was Adobe's premiere Photoshop software, which
creates and retouches video images with the use of an
electronic stylus.
Quantel had alleged that Photoshop infringed five of its
patents. In final arguments on Thursday, Quantel sought a
maximum of $138 million in damages, including $20.6 million in
interest for a period of four years.
Adobe attorneycts
systems and graphics equipment. Adobe, of San Jose, Calif.,
develops computer software for electronic documents.
