Today I bought -

ATPG oil and gas
VRTX biotech - moderately speculative
FAX Far East & Aussie bonds conservative
HBX biotech - very speculative
SCLN biotech - very, very speculative
GSS gold
VSL India telecom

FAX was the only really new positions, I already had smaller positions in the others.

I used buy stops set a few cents above the last high to buy some of these stocks, and limit orders set about 50 cents above the close for others. This worked pretty well, giving me low prices for some stocks (the limit orders were filled under the limit at open) and a controled buy-in on the buy stops.

I have found this is useful, if the stock starts dropping on th e open (profit taking) the buy stops don't get hit, and I can then cancel the trade and use the funds elsewhere.

I also have some GPXM, a tiny mining company which has two properties, one of which is actually pulling out high grade Moly ore.
