At one time, if you had a Masons' thing on your vehicle any cop who was a Mason wouldn't give you a ticket.

ish did i ever mention the story my friend told me when they came home from ww2. the three of them were so drunk , brooklyn kids happy to be alive and war over, figured they would go into nyc. they took the Lincoln Tunnel(before or after nyc?) and when they got to the other side there were police crusers all lined up waiting for them. It seems they drove the whole way through tunnel not knowing they were driving the wrong way against all the cars. cop goes over asks his name. O"Rielly he says, where you from Brooklyn he says,,, the cop with heavy irish accent says. and get the hell out of here before we pull you in. I expect in those days most cops let lots of folks go before giving tickets.

ps they saw lots of action, first landing in africa , then Italy,
