Ice, insider trading ahead of public news does happen. I think it
happens less with bigger, more visible companies. Technical analysis
has its uses, but couldn't have warned you in this case.

You should definitely not abandon the market. How else will you earn
enough for that cabin in Marin county? :)

One way would be to go with the herd more often - like in
momentum investing. I don't do this myself. Also, diversification
- even though maligned by some - lets you shrug off these unfair
losses more easily. I know you like trading short term. Fido on the
IOM thread has a method I like. He just places GTC buy orders
below the current market price. Sometimes they get filled, sometimes not. If they don't get filled he loses nothing. If they get filled
he may make a quick buck or two per share. This takes advantage of
the natural volatility of a stock and assumes no sudden adverse
