My Great-Grandmother bought an acre of choice land in Los Angeles for $500. It sounds like she got a bargain as well, even if it was 1911.

Land in the desert adjacent to downtown Henderson or Las Vegas is dramatically more expensive than desert land in the middle of nowhere.

Its the way things work.
