Just look at what "political correctness" has done with the debate over race and immigration, for instance. No wonder illegal immigrants feel more free to protest than those who want tougher enforcement of the law.


That's the wrong takeaway........and I am surprised you don't know it. Maybe its because you are too new to the whole issue.....not legal but illegal immigration. First and foremost, Latinos feel that we stole California from Mexico. There has been smoldering anger over that issue for a long time. When I first moved to CA, a Latino almost took my head off in a discussion about CA and Mexico.

Secondly, the people who organized the marches know that illegals mean money to the Yanqui. The division you see in the GOP today is the same division that has been in CA for decades. There are all these horror stories about what happens to the CA economy if illegals go away. Most of it is BS but most people don't know that and instead, operate from fear when the subject comes up.

Finally, in the last ten years, the destination of illegal immigrants has changed. It used to be mostly CA, TX, AZ and NM. Now they are moving into places like Iowa, GA and IL. More and more companies are partaking of their cheap labor and liking the taste.

The organizers of those marches know that.......and they know that the US when comes to the issue of money is a 'ho. Principles and laws are thrown out the window......so they are taking advantage. And they are right, the laws won't be changed......or if they are, they will be so watered down that nothing changes.
