Check out BTIM, a stock with a market cap of $140 million, imminent marketing approval, and projected EPS (FY ending 6/00) of $4.50, with $11 projected for the following year. The stock trades at $44, up $11 this week.

I believe that investing in highly speculative biotechs (such as those without earnings or marketed products) should be done only in companies with phase III products which will hit the market in the next 2 years or so. In addition, since there are no current earnings, the stock should be undervalued relative to its projected earnings, like IPIC and BTIM. GILD has received a lot more attention, causing its stock to run up. IPIC's excellent potential hasn't changed; only the short term facts have changed (Redux), producing a good buying opportunity. If one is to invest in these stocks, I think looking for speculative value is the best bet for superior profits.

The investing style is different for profitable biotechs, like BCHE & CNTO.
