Hi Folks,
I don't know about Epson... or Nokia... or the apparent volume today. <vbg>
But I am in the middle of some things that preclude my being online as frequently as a moderator needs to be and therefore I am going to ask if any of you would like to take over that role?
It's a fairly easy task... if you are available to do it. You can find the general guidelines here in the SI FAQ:
siliconinvestor.com To Wit: If someone is going to be banned they should at least get a chance to earn the distinction of making the thread's ban list. Silicon Investor encourages participation and thread moderators should as well as long as the poster is not overly disruptive and conforms to site rules and thread guidelines. Bans are not to be issued on Investment Forum boards solely on the basis of a poster's investment perspective unless the board carries a "Bulls Board" or "Bears Board" designation. Within the scope of those broad guidelines, ban/unban decisions are at the moderators' discretion. Users who are unsatisfied with a moderator's use of the ban feature should look to other threads on the subject, and can also start a new thread if no suitable alternatives exist.
Moderators: You can ban users by clicking on the Ban link that appears in the center of the page directly above and again below the message text area. The link is available only in single-post mode, not batch mode. To quickly access single-post view from batch view, simply place the cursor in the box that contains the offending message's sequence number "[12341 ] of 12565" and hit Enter. That will take you to single-post view mode, and the ban links will appear there. You can remove a user from the ban list by clicking in the number of bans shown on the Subject listing "Posts: 45678 | Member Bookmarks: 223 | Bans (3)" and clicking Unban next to the user's name.
The site admins have the ability to ban/unban on all threads, including non-moderated threads. Banning activity is logged, and moderators found to be egregiously abusing the feature are subject to losing their moderator privileges.
It would be a good idea to have a good working knowledge of the TOU as well: siliconinvestor.com
And should you become truly "disparate" you can always look for assistance on the SI Welcome threads or by sending a Private Message to SI Dave or one of the other Managers there. They do everything they can to help. siliconinvestor.com
Hmmmm... come to think of it I don't know if everyone can be a Moderator, but at this point I assume that any member here is eligible if I recommend you.
As part of the deal I am pretty sure you get to create what ever "Revision" to the lead-in or "Original" post you want. I don't know if they allow you to change the name of the thread but as far as I am concerned my replacement can make whatever changes he/she wants as long as "The SI Law" allows it and you can get the active posters to agree.
I will still be "posting" as often as I can, if I have something to say, but as far as the "New Management" is concerned I won't be second guessing unless asked. If no one undertakes the Moderator's role, I think it will simply revert to an Unmoderated status. But either way I am DeBANing the remaining BANEES and everyone gets a fresh start regardless of the Moderated status.
I think that about covers it. Let me know by Private Message or on the list if you are interested. I want to have my role in all this finished by this time next week, but ultimately the designation of a new Moderator is up to SI, and the thread can remain unmoderated if no one wants to moderate. 0|0 |
