The reports authors said that yields were at 50 percent at Chartered's Fab7 but sometimes even better than those achieved within AMD's own fab!

I calculated ave AMD yield to be between 55% and 60% in Fab30 based on 6250W/W at an ave die size of about 100mm^2 and 12.5M production in Q4 05. This jives well with the claim of Chartered at 50% ave yield. I'm guessing the Chartered yield is at 90nm and for low end Semprons. It seems as though with Chartered production, there is No chance that Intel could quickly move the entire low end to cheap dual cores and hurt AMD. By the way, I think Intel's mature 90nm ave yields were a little BELOW 50%.......probably worse than Chartered. So much for the so called manufacturing juggernaut. I think this is another myth that the analysts need to educated about.
