About 27% of California's electricity generation comes from hydroelectric power. About 11 % is from out-of-state, the rest is generated in California. Normally the Pacific Northwest contributes 11% of California's power, mostly from hydroelectric. Washington and Oregon get 85% of their electric power from hydroelectric. One half of California's electrical energy comes from natural gas. Interstate natural gas lines can deliver 7 billion cubic feet a day (Bcf/d) to California, while the pipelines in the state can carry 6.7 Bcf/d. No doubt the above normal snow pack will assure that hydro power meets it's quota for the state but we will still burn a great deal of natural gas.
