A plumber friend of mine went to Haiti with a church group to do repairs on a hospital. Haiti is so short on paper and plants that when the people relieve themselves they use pebbles instead of paper or leaves to wipe themselves. When they go to the hospital they take pebbles with them and they get flushed down the commode. Over time the pebbles have clogged the sewer which caused a break in the line so the waste from the sick people flows untreated into the city water reservoir. Money wasn't his problem, the church provided a fund for equipment rental, there wasn't a track or back hoe in the whole country he could rent. Can't hand dig out and replace a 36" main by hand.
