Then you'd have to accept that Iran may have the right to preemptively strike the U.S., since we are certainly a threat to them. The Palestinians would also have the right to attack Israel preemptively. Pakistan would be justified in attacking India, or vice versa. Et cetera.

If we continue to promote this irresponsible policy, there is no hope of ever achieving real peace anywhere in the world, and we will certainly never be secure as a nation.
