Delay is leaving the House, among other reasons, because his legal problems just got worse. Now if one calls that a conclusion, a suspicion, a whatever, it matters not.

The problem with your formulation, however you care to define it, is that DeLay's legal problems simply have not gotten worse, at least as far as the general public knows. His political problems, however, undoubtedly got worse with Rudy's plea.

No additional indictment, no target letter, absolutely nothing of a legal nature has taken place that puts him in additional legal jeopardy, i.e., facing additional jail time. This may very well take place but it hasn't happened yet. There are clearly no additional legal problems presently facing him as a result of Rudy's plea as you state, none you and I know about.

It's hard for me to believe this but I think you misunderstand the basic distinction between politics and law, at least in this context.
