circumventing the copy protection on DVDs is a clear violation of the law.

Oops! you got me. However, technically, though the copy protection was circumvented, the original content was not copied in its original form or for any purpose other than personal use. But, do I want to argue that in front of a judge? Mmmmm ... no. [Slinks back into the shadows.]
