Not true. Their constitution has an internal inconsitency in that regard.

Hell, so did ours when the US came into being..

If you'll recall, women couldn't vote, and slavery still existed (for which they could be killed at will, without repercussions from the law).

But women now vote, and there is no slavery in the US. And much of that change was forced.

So change comes slowly.. And sometimes it's the very incidents, like the recent one in Afghanistan, that forces that change.. You will note that the prisoner was released and managed to get to Italy (where he'll probably be forever under a death fatwa).

There will be many other incidents like this, throughout the region. And what it's going to take is a bit more international outrage and pressure to prevent it from happening in the future.

After all, his case is little different than the one where the women in Nigeria was accused of adultery and threatened with stoning. The international press did an admirable job in revealing this travesty of justice, and if they continue to do their jobs as they should, the free press will be instrumental in dealing with the very things you're afraid of.

And gradually intolerance will give way to tolerance and justice.
