<How many years road life average do cars have? >

Depends on the country. I'm getting out of date, but I guess it's much the same as when I was last involved = about 6 years in Japan and 8 in USA and 12 in New Zealand with varying times elsewhere. Google doubtless has the precise information. Not that more precision matters.

Of course you will still see cars all over the place in traffic jam land.

When somebody buys a 1.3 litre car instead of a 4 litre SUV, they don't get rid of it quickly. There are 10 year delays in vehicle parc replacement. But 10% is quite a lot each year and people react quicker than 10 years even if they do continue to own the SUV - they can take a bus tomorrow instead of the SUV. Plenty will do that.

I didn't say cars have vanished from Toronto. Be reasonable and thoughtful.

It's a lot of fun to panic about Peak Oil, but it's not really all that exciting or dramatic. People like to "figure out" such a concept as though that's a big deal. It's not.

At some stage, oil production will reach a peak. That's as with all product life cycles. Same as twisted pair telephone connections, wheelbarrow production, horse breeding, and even Peak People. It's nothing new. Oil is so last century.
