re: "how many friends do you have that cheat? Probably none, right?"

You'd be surprised at how many you have and don't know it. People who are REALLY going to do something like that aren't going to tell you, unless they want you to go away. There is a high percentage of people out there "gaming" the system. Almost all figure they are entitled to it. How many people are getting government aid of some sort that they aren't entitled to? How many people "fudge" items on their taxes? How many people are drawing a paycheck for jobs they don't do, or don't do properly? IMHO it's the majority of people. The funny thing is, it is often the case that the ones screaming ethics issues the loudest have serious ethics issues themselves and don't even realize it. Everyone has to "draw the line" somewhere and for most people it's a very zig-zagged line :)
I only know one person who has a straight ethics line and stays on the right side of it religiously. Most people call her nuts. I call her my sister.

I studied ethics and morality in college, as part of Psychology studies. It is an absolutely fascinating subject with strong ties to religion and war. Wouldn't mind doing a Doctorate on the subject. It is a particularly interesting can of worms as to how people rationalize being antiabortion yet pro war.
