Distributor to Resell and Distribute VTL with its Portfolio of Storage Products

SEOUL, Korea--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 5, 2006--FalconStor Software, Inc. (Nasdaq:FALC), the premier developer of adaptive data protection solutions, today announced that its award-winning VirtualTape Library (VTL) software has been chosen by LG Hitachi, Ltd. for resale and distribution with LG Hitachi's portfolio of storage solutions in Korea.

"LG Hitachi is looking to hold a dominant position in the rapidly growing VTL market in Korea," said Na Hyung-Kyun, LG Hitachi vice president, storage business division. "FalconStor is an obvious choice to help ensure a successful entry into the VTL market. FalconStor's superior functionality in its VTL solution gives us opportunities to deliver the best-performing and most reliable disk-storage to our customers, and fulfills our vision in the storage business."

The addition of VTL complements LG Hitachi's existing portfolio of storage and data protection solutions serving its customers in the financial, government, education, and manufacturing industries. FalconStor's leading and proven VTL technology, combined with the company's high-profile VTL OEM partnerships, were key considerations in LG Hitachi's decision to use FalconStor technology to enter the rapidly emerging VTL market.

"Solutions using virtual tape libraries are particularly adept at solving backup, recovery and consolidation issues, and are swiftly gaining widespread recognition across companies of all sizes throughout Korea," said Man Jeong Ha, FalconStor Korea country manager. "We're delighted that LG Hitachi has selected FalconStor technology to help solve the backup and recovery challenges faced by their customers."

LG Hitachi will offer VTL appliances targeted for small, midsize and enterprise businesses. Features important to LG Hitachi include the ability to configure two VTL appliances as an active-active cluster for maximizing service availability and eliminating downtime, as well as the flexibility to support 64 virtual tape libraries, 512 virtual tape drives, and 4,096 virtual tapes.

FalconStor's VTL software leverages industry standard high-speed disk to provision virtual tape drives and libraries via Fibre Channel (FC), iSCSI or NDMP protocol to backup servers attached to an iSCSI/IP or FC storage area network (SAN) to maximize performance and return on investment. FalconStor's ongoing interoperability testing with leading hardware and software solutions ensures seamless integration of VTL into an existing IT environment, while optimizing the overall performance and functionality of VTL and other technologies used by FalconStor customers today.
