"You can Google all the B.S. articles you want, but in the end, you still can't argue against the multicultural reality I see first hand every single day."

Europeans, in general, don't have a good handle on what things are like in the US. True, most Americans don't have a clue about what it is like in Europe, but everybody knows that...

Its also different in Europe. Here.....there's TX and then north of TX is OK and to the west is NM and to the east is LA and to the south is Mexico....finally a different culture. Whereas in Europe you have the Czech Republic which is much smaller than TX and about the size of W.VA......to its west you have Germany and to the north is Germany and Poland and to the east is Slovakia and to the south is Austria. The probability of 'real' cultural interaction is much more likely. Sure American cities have Little Italys or Greektowns or Little Japans......but so do European cities.

And I think that translates into Europeans being more comfortable when they meet someone of another culture.......they know how they will communicate.....what languague to use......they are not as put off by the differences etc. I think that's what Gustave is saying.
