Eminem Divorces Wife 3 Months After Remarriage

DETROIT -- Rap star Eminem has filed for divorce from wife Kimberly Mathers, according to Detroit television station WDIV.
Eminem's lawyer filed the papers at the Macomb County Clerk's office Wednesday, the station reported.
The filing on behalf of Mashall Bruce Mathers III, Eminem's real name, was first confirmed by two employees of the Macomb County clerk's office. The employees didn't provide their names, citing an office policy.
"There has been a breakdown in the marriage relationship to the extent that the objects of matrimony have been destroyed and there remains no reasonable likelihood that the marriage can be preserved," according to the filing.
The couple remarried at Meadow Brook Hall in Rochester, Mich., in January. The filing also said that Eminem and his wife signed a prenuptial agreement, although it did not list specifics.
The Mathers' first marriage ended in October 2001, but they reconciled in late 2004, according to WDIV.
They have a daughter, Hailie Jade. Eminem is seeking joint custody.
Eminem's publicist, Dennis Dennehy, confirmed the filing, but had no other comment. |
