Krugman should be listened to. Sure he's a partisan who's against the rightwing, but he's an opinion writer, not an editor, and both the Times and every other major newspaper and magazine publish a variety of opinions. The NY Times also gives conservatives a voice. Don't they?
Krugman is very-very smart. He's like George Will. You may not agree with him but you can't deny he knows what he's talking about, at least from his perspective. And you can also no deny that the Bush-cheney-Hannity-Limbaugh propaganda machine has little regard for the truth whatsoever and aim to hoodwink people. They are the ones who need to be vanquished not liberal opinion writers. In fact on Iraq and a whole host of other issues, the liberals turned out to be right.
Also let's be honest, when the rightwing pundits slam the "elite media" what they're really attacking is intelligence and facts as opposed to "pro Bush-Cheney right or wrong" propaganda. Plus the Bushies think corporations can do no wrong. Look at Enron, Halliburton, Exxon, the entire health care profession and all the polluters. Do no wrong? They are all reaming us the you-know-what and they're all close pals of Bushies.
Bush has failed on every level now. Even on the economy. Bushies now claim that GW's economy is great. OK, the stock market looks fine, but that's only for the top 5%. What about the rest of the nation? During Clinton's years everyone did better, and it was all paid for. Clinton left a large surplus. Bush is the biggest deficit spender in history and drives his economic growth on massive borrowing and spending. So Bush's economy is totally unsustainable and will come crashing down soon. It has to. At some point the bill will have to be paid. |
