That line in the algo article, " I have heard anecdotes about a trading firm that sent six million orders into one exchange but only one was actually executed. " That was me, trying to buy 100 shares of GOOG 2 cents below the bid, I kept moving my bid, finally got filled near the close. Actually, the article was more informative than usual. You really have to read between the lines when these guys talk, because they are careful not to reveal anything proprietary or genuinely useful to the competition. They are truthful enough, and verify what I've observed in real time.
