That may be the best way to save, but that isn't the best way to maximise your resources. There is an opportunity cost in cleaning your own home. For some that cost is very low so it doesn't make sense to hire outside help, for others the cost can be rather steep. The cost is what you could be making with the same amount of effort doing some other work.

I learned this concept in home economics class.
