If it smacks of amnesty the Republicans lose the mid-terms. Badly.
people aren't going to forget or forgive
if they can't make a convincing case for closing the borders, and they haven't done so yet, the Republicans lose
it's a war between the base, the people, and the Republican elites, and so far the leadership really turns me off
