Clinton was wrong to interfere - I said so at the time, and haven't changed my mind. I don't think it is in the interest of the US to unilaterally interfere, or even interfere as a lead actor, UNLESS there has been an event- like the invasion of Kuwait- that generates near universal agreement between countries. It's true that the plight of many people in the third world and elsewhere is sad, but there are things we can do that don't involve invasions, and we should do what we can- though not to an extent that imperils the US. I think invasions are best left to instances where our national interest is unambiguously served by the invasion, and where a cause for war is crystal clear- because where the cause is not clear, that again works against the interests of the US in terms of how the world views us, and how they treat us.

JMO of course- and it has nothing to do with not caring about the plight of other people, or with thinking dictators are "alright".
