ACMI does compete with Cytic and their product is compatible with Thin Prep but unlikely to be used with Thin Prep.
Thin Prep is a different way to prepare a Pap Smear to be stained and read without extraneous materials (ie no junks ).
ACMI accepts ANY Pap smear, divides it up into small zones and scans all zones for suspicious cancer cells. The system does have neural capabilities which means that if a tech calls something positive, it will store that into its memory and bring the same "positive looking " cell up next time.
Thin Prep is used with Cytic system only and requires new ways to collect samples.
ACMI does not require any change.
