In global warming your area can still have periods of extreme cold weather in the winter but with indian summer starting earlier and ending later than in the past. I remember growing up in NYC. After the second week of September it started getting pretty cold real fast and never seeming to warm up again until May.

Florida seems much hotter than it used to be. Summer doesn't end till Thanksgiving now and most locals resigned to wearing flip-flops 365 days a year now<g> A/C season seems to be almost year round except for short term cold snaps whereas 10-15 years ago you never needed A/C for 4-5 months ..
