I keep hearing about the 'fair and balanced' FOX, and that they present both viewpoints. But, I think they're having trouble filling the role of the villain (i.e. the left) lately. More and more of their shows don't have a 'left' viewpoint presented. For example, on O'Reilly last night, they did not have a left villain, uh, presenter. The immigrant bill debate involved two Republican senators who sounded like they wanted to get a room together (even Tony Snow, subbing for O'Reilly, had to cut off their 'love fest').
Many credible leftists avoid appearing on FOX unless they are under contract or trying to sell something (a book, themselves, etc).
I don't watch a lot of The News Hour, but when I do, it seems like a fairly dry approach. Not a lot of commentary, just a presentation of facts. Probably why they've lost market share. News is becoming entertainment. Witness the fact that many younger people get their 'news' from the Daily Show - a self proclaimed 'fake news' show. |
