>>>I do wish the Libertarian party was stronger. They aren't socially intrusive and are fiscally conservative.<<<

I actually am a recipient of a Friend of Freedom Award from the New Hampshire Libertarian Party, back in the late '80s; this is juxtrapositioned with a Distinguished Service Award from the New Hampshire Democrat Party. And, astonishingly, I once ran for congress as a Republican. So what are my true political instincts? Well, they tend more Green than anything else. All in all, I've truly been in the belly of the beast--lol.

Over the years, I've known many Libertarians. But almost to the person, each had a different version as to what libertarianism is all about. Often I'd elicit comments from them like [paraphrased]: Well, "I'm a Libertarian, except when it comes to health care" or "I'm a Libertarian, except when it comes to the environment" or "I'm a Libertarian, except when it comes to education," etc.

Fact is, if you truly dissect Libertarians they tend more as Democrats than Republicans but it's the free market idea (perhaps gun control also) binding them to Republicanism.

I just don't understand how it got lost on Libertarians, a position of Democrats, that when working people are gainfully employed the money they make is spent directly back into the American economy; as opposed to the beneficial wealthy class, supported by tax-cutting Republicans, who tend to invest savings into offshore investments.

In any event, the Bush-Cheney regime has achieved more debt for America than all of the previous 42 presidents combined. I don't think Libertarians will be supporting Republican candidates in the upcoming elections, and polling of independent voters shows this.
